Action: White sturgeon retention in the Columbia River estuary will be allowed for three additional periods; July 10-12, July 17-19, and July 26-27:

The mainstem Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam will close to adult chinook retention as scheduled on June 29 but will remain open for sockeye retention through July 6.

Action: Anglers will be able to retain adult sockeye salmon during the upper Columbia River summer chinook fishery in the Columbia River above Rocky Reach Dam, including a portion of the Okanogan River.

ELLENSBURG - Fishing won’t be affected, but swimmers will want to avoid two popular lakes in Kittitas County when they are treated with herbicide to control aquatic weeds June 30-July 2.
The North and South Fio Rito lakes, totaling about 54 acres about three miles east of Ellensburg, will be treated with aquatically-approved 2-4-D herbicide to control submerged Eurasian milfoil.

OLYMPIA - Anglers will get eight more days to catch sturgeon in the Columbia River estuary, but the fishery for summer chinook salmon between Bonneville Dam and the Highway 395 Bridge in Pasco will close at the end of the day June 30, a month earlier than expected.

The Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission has approved a change in the opening date of pheasant season, moving it to the second Saturday in November, effective in 2009. This years pheasant opening date will be the first Saturday in November, as it has been since 2006, since many hunters already have made lodging and vacation plans for this fall. The pheasant season runs through Jan. 31, 2009.

Today Oregon and Washington fishery managers announced the early closure of the summer adult chinook fishery from Bonneville Dam upstream to the Highway 395 Bridge near Pasco, Wash. The season will close on Tuesday, July 1 at 12:01 a.m.

Oregon and Washington fishery managers announced today that they will open a July recreational sturgeon fishery on the Columbia River.
Anglers will be able to fish for and keep sturgeon on the mainstem Columbia from Buoy 10 upstream to the Wauna powerlines on the following days: Thursday, July 10 through Saturday, July 12; Thursday, July 17 through Saturday, July 19; and Saturday, July 26 through Sunday, July 27
