THURSDAY CHILD EVENT AT BECK’S ON LAKE WISCONSIN

The Thirteenth Annual Thursday's Child Bass Invitational will be held this Saturday at Beck's on Lake Wisconsin. Thursday's Child Inc., is a southern Wisconsin organization, which provides a wish or dream to those deserving youngsters with a catastrophic illness.

PRESIDENT SIGNS CLEAN BOATING ACT LEGISLATION

Aboard Air Force One late yesterday, President Bush signed S. 2766, "The Clean Boating Act of 2008," which permanently restores a long-standing exemption for recreational boats from permitting requirements under the Clean Water Act. This signing of the bill is the capstone moment of a two-year campaign to eliminate an onerous permit program for recreational boaters that would have dictated maintenance and operation procedures, potentially subjected boaters to citizen lawsuits, and put recreational boats under a penalty system designed for industrial polluters.

Teen Anglers in NJ

Teen Anglers ( http://www.teenanglers.org/ ), a free outdoors education program for teens interested in learning fishing and boating skills, is forming a chapter in the southern part of NJ. The first meeting of the group will be Saturday, August 9 at 3 p.m. in the Hunting Shanty at the Tuckerton Seaport.

Cabela’s Income Falls in Q2; Credit Card Charge Offs Rise

Cabela's Inc. reported total revenue for the second quarter of 2008 increased 16.6% to $526.0 million compared to $451.2 million for the second quarter of 2007. Net income for the second quarter of 2008 was $7.3 million, or 11 cents per diluted share, compared to $11.3 million, or 17 cents per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2007.
